Irene is a slash fan writer whose work appeared in fanzines in the 1990s and 2000s. Her writing was nominated for and won several awards, including the Stiffie and Huggy Awards.

Her writing has been described as being 'softer' and is often compared to Rhiannon. Others have called her "a smooth, polished, charming writer, mostly of CI5-based stories, but of some AUs.....She's also invented a slightly grittier version of the canon world featuring, instead, CI-17 headed by a no-nonsense Elizabeth Walsh, in which Doyle works with Marge Harper before meeting Bodie, and Cowley plays his own role. ... She also kicked off the Pudding Sequence of stories... featuring older lads..."[1]
