The first InvaderCON was held in Atlanta, Georgia by Wasabi Anime. The con was well received and voice actors even attended, where they read the scripts of some of the unreleased episodes. The 2012 convention even hosted the showrunner, Jhonen Vasquez. One dollar of each ticket purchased for InvaderCON was donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
The heads of InvaderCON held the convention each you until 2014, when they intended it to be their last. However, a few years later in 2019 they began raising money on Kickstarter for an InvaderCON in Boston, Massachusetts, for Aug 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to August 2021. InvaderCON's website seems to have gone down in 2020, with its last Wayback Machine capture being from December 2019.
The Kickstarter for the 2020 InvaderCON stated:
Then maybe - MAYBE - if Enter the Florpus generates enough excitement on Netflix and a new Invader ZIM series is created, we can "get the gang back together" for one more InvaderCON. The fate of future DOOM is in your hands.
