Ibento (イベント, ibento), from the English "event", is the Japanese word for any sort of convention. However, it's most often used to mean a doujinshi convention in particular. Fannish conventions that don't focus on the sale of doujinshi, such as many non-Japanese conventions, are usually referred to as ibento in Japanese. For conventions that focus on the sale of doujinshi, sokubaikai is also a very common term, although the two are often used interchangeably. "Doujin ibento" (同人イベント, doujin ibento) is another synonym for doujinshi-focused conventions.
