Hutch Fever is a slash Starsky and Hutch story by Theresa Kyle.

Summary

"Starsky is unsettled when his feelings for his partner suddenly become X-rated--but Hutch, currently involved with a fetching blonde, remains oblivious."

Author Notes

"This story was published in "The Fix 10" in 1991, and later that year won the Huggy for S&H's best humorous story of the year. Before submitting this story I cut out two scenes because I thought it made the story too long for "The Fix", which usually ran less than 100 pages. (For those who are curious, it's the scenes that take place on Friday afternoon and Friday evening.) In 1993 the extracted part was printed in the S&H letterzine "Frienz", titled "Missing Scene from 'Hutch Fever.'" I have reinstated the extracted scenes in this version, so on this archive, for the first time, is the story as it was originally written."

Reactions and Reviews

oh god, what a thrill to find this story waiting for me tonight! It has always been one of my all time favorites. The voices are so true, so real, I can hear them as if they're sitting next to me. I remember the first time I read this and heard Starsky say, "Does she give good head?" -- the single most classic question any guy ever asks any other guy about the woman he's seeing -- it struck a chord of "you-are-there" realism I'd rarely experienced. Thank you so much for this terrific story and especially for adding in those scenes that were new to me, making a much loved story that much better. [1]

So funny! Especially "pon farr"...made me laugh. [2]

this was just beautiful. really, really beautiful. kind of choked me up there at the end... :) [3]

You just have to read this story, it's so good! Starsky is unsettled when his feelings for his partner suddenly become X-rated--but Hutch, currently involved with a fetching blonde, remains oblivious. The author is so funny. She has Starsky down to a tee. [4]

Wonderful too was your "Missing Scene From Hutch Fever" in just over one and a half pages you gave us a funny, cute and serious piece. I loved the Starsky feet up on the desk, the Pepto-Bismol car, the thing for Hutch's hair, the boat, and the hooker, crook or psycho line had me chuckling out loud in the coffee room at work -- it's OK though 'cos they all know I'm an S+H fan and just carried on sipping their De-Caf and nibbling their Salt and Vinegar crisps. Anyway Teresa thanks very much for the missing scene. [5]
