Hogwarts Roleplay Wiki, also known as Hogwarts RPG, was a wiki dedicated to roleplaying in the Harry Potter universe. It was first created in March 2011.[1]
It was hosted on Wikia. The wiki operated for just under a year, until April 2012, when it merged with Dumbledore's Army Role-Play Wiki, combining communities, pages, administrator teams, and redirecting the URL to the latter.[2]

Hello, everyone! My name's *Luna, and I created this Wiki purely from my love of the enchanting magic of the world of Harry Potter. I constantly use Harry Potter Wiki as a reference and for information for this Wiki, so I give nearly all the credit to the users over there! Please check our policy page before editing. On the wiki, users would first need to make a request on the "Sorting" forum and be approved manually be an admin. Once complete, they could then create a character page. Then an optional step included visiting the stores, requesting an order, and waiting for someone to reply. To roleplay, the wiki used "word bubbles", a common practice across all roleplaying wikis at the time. The wiki garnered over 5,000 pages during it's time, comprising of various locations, characters, and more. These would all be used to roleplay, often within the comments.[4]
History
Creation
The wiki was first created on March 2, 2011 by *Luna. Many of the users were from Camp Half-Blood Role Playing Wiki and helped to set up the wiki, though their was some animosity between the two wikis, once being dubbed as a wiki war, but eventually both wikis maintained a friendly relationship. It was not uncommon for significant overlap in users between the two wikis.[5]
The wiki would host several roleplay events that would affect the in-game roleplaying wiki world. One of these included the return of the dark lord, this time as "Lord Ormond", and his followers the Covenant of Blood.[6] The in-game roleplaying would take place over a Hogwarts year, with a new headmaster named Professor Shane Frozen, who was known to frequently drink 'hot coco'.[7] Nearly all of the characters created were OCs, besides some of the shopkeepers.
Wiki Merge
In April 2012, the wiki combined with another Harry Potter-themed roleplaying wiki known as Dumbledore's Army Role-Play Wiki, or commonly abbreviated as DARP. This was to increase activity on respective wikis. It was otherwise known as the 'Wiki Merge'. The pages on the DARP Wiki doubled in the size. The admins were combined and significant changes were made to the in-game roleplaying. For example, Hogwarts began to operate in departments for their subjects, since certain subjects had multiple professors, one from DARP, and one from Hogwarts RPG.
Alright, so for those who haven't noticed (and I hope everyone has), we have had another Harry Potter Roleplaying wiki merge with ours. This means that we may have to make some compromises about positions of power, from Headmaster down to who's on the quidditch team, but overall this is quite an opportunity for us. We will grow by quite a bit (did you see our pages on this wiki doubled overnight?), have more editeors, and more importantly more characters to roleplay and do events with. We've gotten most of the issues sorted out, though I'm sure for the next week or two things will continue to come up, and need to be sorted out. If you have any thoughts on the merge, any ideas how to make it more smooth, or have noticed any issues that need to be resolved, either comment below, or post on the Admin Shoutout page.[8]
