His Reply is a Bodie/Doyle story by Rosemary C.

It was a circuit story written in early 80s.[1]

Reactions and Reviews

No seducer, and we watch Bodie suffer for Doyle for a long time before we realize that Doyle is suffering too...You get the feeling that Doyle might have tried it as a youth, and there is no sex, so no bottom. Count it up, no innocent, no seduction, wrong sufferer, no bottom person--this is a non-doyle lover story. I still love it though...[2]

One of the joys of Old School ships is that many of the tropes we take for granted now were shiny and new back then. This story is one of those. It's about poetry, which seems a bizarre match with Bodie and Doyle on the face of it, but back when I first read it (long before I'd ever read a songfic), it was pretty revelatory. Actual culture! In slash! With a porn scene! Awesome![3]
