Reactions and Reviews
McCoy is helping Jim to keep Spock‘s good opinion. On shore leave Spock is tricked into believing that Kirk is bedding beautiful women, when in fact Kirk is only interested in men."Why don‟t you just tell him Jim?‟ "He‟s a Vulcan!‟ "So?‟ The argument continues with McCoy trying to get Kirk to see the holes in his 'logic‘ Back on the ship Spock is forced to consult McCoy for treatment. His body reacts badly to sex with other than Humans or Vulcans, and McCoy dispenses advice with the medication, The next day finds both Kirk and Spock keeping appointments with McCoy at the same time. He takes them both into his office, engages the privacy sign and gives them both a drink. Juice for Spock, brandy for Jim and a double for himself. Announcing that he fully realises the consequences to himself for what he is about to do, he tells Spock that Jim is bisexual but prefers men, then tells Kirk that Spock is homosexual. He adds more information to the pot, then leaves them to consider what he‘s revealed. After 6 days of successfully avoiding the other two, Spock stays in his labs, McCoy in sickbay and Kirk when not on the bridge in his quarters, Kirk realises he needs to confer with Spock and calls him to his quarters. When Spock offers to transfer off the Enterprise, or take command of second shift Kirk at last speaks out. He realises that he doesn‘t want Spock to even consider such options, and tells him so.
They acknowledge that McCoy was right, and the story ends with a very satisfactory conclusion. [1]
