Help:People pages/Fan Template

From Fanlore
Jump to navigation Jump to search

For pages based on fans, separate from a user page. Examples: astolat, Minotaur, Reili von Wildcat. For pages on the creators of fandom (such as J.K. Rowling), one should use a general People page template instead. Pages that use this template will automatically be categorized under the, which is a subcategory of the People category, as long as the FanProfile infobox is included.

For tips and expanded information on what content to add to a People page, refer to the People pages Help page. For help complying with Fanlore's Identity Protection policy and ethical practices when handling the personal information of a fan, refer to the Identity Protection and Deceptive Practices pages. If you know a fan by multiple names, but aren't sure if they are comfortable linking them, please use the name they are most commonly known by or ask for their permission. For help on naming a fan page in which multiple fans have the same name, refer to the Disambiguation Naming Conventions page.

Information in the template below is meant as a placeholder and should be replaced with the relevant content to your page. Editors should feel free to re-organize, add to, and change the order of the headers, as they only serve as a general guide. Copy the code located in the box and paste it into a page to use it.

{{FanProfile

}}

'''Fan name or pseud''' and info such as: artist type (vidding, fanfiction, meta, visual art, etc), fandoms they've participated in, awards won, zines they've been in, year they joined fandom, etc.

{{Quotation|Place a quote from the fan here, such as the bio of one of their social media pages or personal websites!|source=<ref>[LINK words that show], Location of link. Date of comment if applicable. (Date link accessed) ([ARCHIVED LINK Archived-Date link archived])</ref>}}

==Fannish Timeline==

A good place to put a dedicated chronology of events, particularly if the fan has been in fandom a long time or contributed a lot. Events can be broad or subdivided in smaller pieces as needed, such as the parts of a decade or the parts of a year, if applicable.

==Fan Activity==

Some fans may have contributed a lot towards a specific fandom or community. In those cases, a dedicated section discussing their involvement with that fandom or community may be necessary. This can be a specific fandom, such as Harry Potter, a place, such as a forum, or a community, such as the Slash community on YouTube or the vidding community. See [[Reili von Wildcat]] for an example of this.

If there seems like enough content to section off, multiple subsections may be preferred. Two Fandom Activity sections are below, which may be added onto or removed to fit the activity and involvement of the fan.

===(Fandom Activity 1)===

If the fan was involved in a fandom occurrence or significant project, such as participating in a kinkmeme, a reanimated project on YouTube, or a controversy, this is a good place to discuss it.

===(Fandom Activity 2)===

If the fan was involved in a fandom occurrence, such as participating in a kinkmeme, a reanimated project on YouTube, or a controversy, this is a good place to discuss it.

==Fanworks==

Various types of fanwork are sectioned off below and should be removed and rearranged to fit the type of artist the fan page is for. For example, if they only worked on vidding, remove every section except for vidding, or remove every section and replace the above section header called "Fanworks" with "Vidding" instead, for cohesion. The works listed on a fan page should be notable works or a representative sample of their works, not a complete index of every work the fan has created.

===Zines===

A sortable table is provided, but for artists who only had/have a small handful of zines, you may want to remove the table in place of a simple list. The sortable table can also be added onto or simplified as needed for the fan's work.
