Hello is a first-season SGA vid by Merry to Poe's Hello. It was used as a pimping vid to introduce SGA to new fans. It can be viewed as either gen, McKay/Sheppard, or Sheppard/Atlantis; in either interpretation, Poe's voice is perfectly matched to the fanon-ish personification of Atlantis.
Merry's summary of the vid is "SGA in the wild dark yonder." It is spooky and atmospheric, cutting on the beat with images of space, wormholes and Atlantis underwater and then rising. It makes great use of footage from The Storm/The Eye, matching Sheppard yelling "Kolya!" to Poe calling "hello."
Reactions
- Arduinna: "Merry's summary is perfect -- that's exactly what this is, starting with the very first note. This isn't the bright dorky side of SGA, this is the dangerous, scary, isolated side of season 1, when they were all alone and had only each other to rely on. This is just gorgeous." [1]
- Isis: "I interpreted this as Atlantis and the Ancients “speaking” across time to the Earth team, although I guess you could consider it John/Atlantis - I saw it as much more of a team thing, though." [2]
- Thing1: "the song by itself is not one I like, but I think the connection with imagery, the editing (which is exceptional) and the lyrics really make it work. Merry really captures a mood."[3]
- kuwdora: "This is literally the first video I think of when I think of Stargate Atlantis. I remember when I was working on my own Atlantis video way back when, I wanted it to be as awesome as this one. It's season 1 to Poe and oh my god - it's just awesome, downright awesome. The clips-- the cutting, all of it. It's fantabulous and all those other adjectives that can't measure up to the video."[4]
