Summary: While investigating the homicide of a John Doe who he suspects might've been murdered while working the streets as a prostitute, Detective Erik Lehnsherr finds an unexpected ally in a hooker named Charles who seems as determined as he to solve the case. As they become more deeply involved both with the case and each other, there's just one thing that Charles neglects to mention—that he's really an investigative journalist, one quickly convinced that what they're dealing with is more than simple murder. cop!Erik, fake-hooker-slash-reporter!Charles, Modern AU.

Erik Lehnsherr is a detective and Charles Xavier is not a prostitute. Except Erik thinks he is. There's also a murder that's being covered up, and Erik wants to get to the bottom of it, to the bottom of everything, including why there's a picture of very, rich, very powerful Brian Xavier with his arm around Charles on Charles' night stand. But mostly murder.[1]
It’s been a bit since I read this fic, but it is not only hot as hell in the parts it needs to be, there is also such great plot following well developed characters of Charles and Erik in an au where Charles is an ambitious investigative journalist and Erik the hardcore but secretly soft detective.The smut and hot portions of the fics are tasteful and subtle. The excerpt is of the climactic part, which is even better in angst than the sexy scenes. There is deception of identity since Charles goes undercover.
Sorry, this is not as detailed since it’s been a while since I read it. I found it in my bookmark section and am going to reread it myself. Very much recommend.[2]
