Green Suit Looker
Looker is a recurring non-player character from the Pokémon series of games. He was introduced in the Generation IV game Pokémon Platinum as an International Police officer investigating the actions of Team Galactic, that game's villainous team, and appeared in several subsequent generations in a similar capacity. When not in disguise, Looker can be easily identified by the brown trenchcoat and dark brown suit he wears in every game.[1]
On December 3 2013, Bulbapedia user S2daam uploaded a palette-swapped image of Looker in a green suit under the name "XY Looker.png".[2] The same user subsequently replaced the official page image with this palette swap, captioning it "Art from X and Y", a game in which he does not wear the color green.[3][4] Interestingly, even though the character Looker does not wear green in-game, an official guidebook only available in Japan contains this same green image, so it is likely that the Bulbapedia user used this same guidebook as a source.[5]
This change would go unreverted for several years, and many fanartists looking for reference images on Bulbapedia would proceed to draw Looker with a green suit instead of a brown suit, while others would express confusion about the discrepancy between the Bulbapedia page and the in-game content.[6]
