The Great Dark Horde is a household within the Society for Creative Anachronism. Their role within the SCA fictional universe is as affiliates of a fictitious Mongol horde, constantly lurking outside the fictitious Europe of the greater S.C.A. and waiting to sweep in.
It was founded in May of 1971 by a group which included filker and science fiction/fantasy writer Robert Asprin, known in the S.C.A. as "Yang the Nauseating". Its ranks have included a number of members of science fiction fandom and/or professional writers.
