The Gargoyles Fanfiction Archive is an online archive of Gargoyles fan fiction. It is part of the larger Gargoyles Fans Website, which when fully active included a wide range of fanwork, reference information, news updates, and interactive features including chat and commenting. The archive contents remain accessible to the present day, but the most recent news announcement is dated Sept. 5, 2011. A notice supplied on the parent site's Website Staff subpage reports that:
This website has been archived from the original Gargoyles Fans webserver to save it from deletion and is no longer actively maintained. The site is only provided for historic reasons.
The archive is sizeable. Its design makes it somewhat difficult to determine precise numbers, but the number of authors represented is at least in the dozens, perhaps exceeding 100, and the number of stories is at least several hundred and perhaps over 1,000. Contributors represented include Allaine, ArisTGD (as Aris "TGD" Merquoni), Christine Morgan, LJC (as Tara O'Shea), Ginevra, Merlin Missy, and WhisperingWolf, among many others.
In addition to the authors' individual works, the parent site also features a major collaborative fic project, The Gargoyles Saga, in which a number of fan writers worked together to produce full "seasons" of prose series spun off from Gargoyles - more or less following the broad outlines of the extended timeline for the original series' canon as gradually unfolded to fans by creator Greg Weisman. The full archive of the Saga consists of:
- Gargoyles (3 seasons / 86 episodes) Moves forward from the first two seasons of the canonical series.
- Pendragon (3 seasons / 57 episodes) Episodes of Gargoyles are interpolated between seasons 1 and 3.
- Dark Ages (2 seasons / 38 episodes) A prequel series taking place prior to the the canonical series.
- TimeDancer (4 seasons / 65 episodes) Brooklyn's adventures while traveling in time.
- Untold Tales (1 season / 4 episodes - one multipart story) A series meant to feature self-contained stories.
- Supporting material: extensive cast lists, a timeline, adapted theme music for each series, artwork, and more.
- Complete credits: listings of the full creative staff for the entire Gargoyles Saga project.
The combined archive may well be the largest collection of Gargoyles fanfiction on the 'Net, and almost certainly the most methodically curated.
