This zine preceeded Independent Entity.
About
From the editorial in Independent Entity #1 (August 1974):
Independent Entity seemed to just suddenly be real. And there we were, sprawled among the six google sheets of copy at the foot of the Empress’s bed, discussing a for-real fanzine somehow born of the ditto, the debates, and the dunsells of The Galaxy Gazette, that monthly Trekish conglomeration which originated with the caricatures our bedeviled pens portray us. Amidst the thundering clouds and other court noises, GB (as I usually call Her Empship) conceived The Independent Entity and committed us (tho, alas not to a rehab colony).
Altho' GB’s allergy to Romulans and Klingons has proved a disadvantage Entity has pulled itself together with a quality that is astounding us. Many talented people helped us, despite our blatant insanity. Special thanks and recognition is given elsewhere but I still want to thank them here again before going on with the Emp's and my mutual admir/detest-ation society.
A bit more history might enlighten some of the murkiness our rambling leave; GB’s a journalism bug who about 1 1/2 years ago (standard) began to publish The Galaxy Gazette — an almost single-handed attempt to unify a widely dispersed club consisting largely of cousins and penpals. Over the course of time, she provoked me, an ordinary, unrelated contributor, into manifesting raving Romulan tendencies, providing the conflict that along with news and inside gossip kept our members reading and occasionally contributing and even garnered new blood like our Klingon, Cmdr, Kilanrof. The Entity is a reaching out from backwater fandom by the GG core group.
