GNC is an abbreviation for "Gender Non-Conforming", a term usually used to describe when a person's gender expression or presentation varies from the conventional standards of gender. It can be used in similar contexts to "genderqueer" and "genderfuck," but is considered to have different nuances, and can incorporate everyone from non-binary individuals to tomboys. It is not a canonical tag at AO3, but there are 21 specific canonical "Gender Non-Conforming (character name)" tags as of late 2022.
