The Four Seasons Total Landscaping AU is an alternate universe fanfiction trope in which members of the OTP or OT3 either work at or own a landscaping company, a crematorium, and/or a adult sex shop. It is based in many of the same tropes as the Flower Shop and Tattoo Parlor AU.
History
The groundwork upon which this AU was built started on November 5, 2020. It was on that date that, on episode 15x18 of Supernatural, Castiel confessed his love for Dean Winchester. This canonization of the mega-popular ship Destiel sparked a massive influx in new fan content for the ship. As this was going on, it became conflated with other events in the news, such as the ongoing 2020 U.S. Presidential Election and false rumors about Russian President Vladimir Putin resigning.
Two days later, Rudy Giuliani, the personal lawyer of Donald Trump, hosted a press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping to promote false claims of voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election (which, coincidentally, was called for Joe Biden as he was speaking). The press conference may have been arranged in error, with the Trump campaign thinking that the location was actually the Four Seasons Hotel. This perceived mishap instantly became a meme, with mainstream comedians and individual shitposters alike making fun of the Trump campaign's apparent ineptitude.
Four Seasons Total Landscaping is located between a crematorium and an adult sex shop, which added to the humor of the situation and was also widely mocked.
Fandom, SPN fandom in particular, conflated the canonization of Destiel and the Four Seasons conference, and created an OTP or OT3 AU in which one member works at or owns Four Seasons Total Landscaping and the other members of the ship own or work at the other nearby establishments.
One of the first (if not the first) fanworks featuring this AU was posted on November 8, just one day after the Four Seasons conference.
