Four Lights is a gen and het Star Trek: TNG H/C anthology edited by Priscilla J. Ball.

The title is a reference to a torture scene in the TNG episode "Chain of Command." A Cardassian tries to get Picard to say that there are five lights in the room, and punishes him every time he insists there are only four.

Issue 1

Four Lights 1 was published in April 1997 and contains 224 pages. Cover art is by Janet D'Airo, addition art by Renee Levy and Joey Rodrigues.

  • Playing with Power by Joelle Augustine. An alternative ending to 'Power Play.' What if Dr. Crusher's method to force the entities from Data, Troi, and O'Brien hadn't been successful?
  • Chain of the Mind by Jordan Trevor. Set after 'Chain of Command,' Crusher, Troi, and Riker must help Picard overcome post-traumatic shock as a result of torture by the Cardassians.
  • Heart Strings by Tara Patterson. Picard deals with the news that a former love is dying.
  • Loyalties by D.J. Nicholson. Picard's reactions to Ro Laren's decision to defect to the Maquis.
  • Abandoned by Karolyn Barnes. Troi awakens to find that she and Data are the only ones left on the Enterprise, and that Data is behaving strangely.
  • Candlelight by Gill Marsden. An alternate universe story set on the Enterprise which is entering its final days after being battered by the Borg under the leadership of Locutus.
  • Mirror, Mirror by Lisa Ann Richardon. Perhaps Picard and Crusher are always meant to be together, no matter what.

Issue 2

Four Lights 2 was published in April 1998 and contains 192 pages. The color cover is by Janet D'Airo and the inside art is by Anne Davenport.

  • Defeated by Karolyn Barnes. What if Data and Picard had not been able to defeat the Borg aboard the Enterprise in 'First Contact'?
  • An End to Pain by Gill Marsden. An alternative ending to 'Man of the People.' Deanna is dead, and Riker is grieving.
  • Something to Live For by Althea Katz. Takes place in the 'Dark Mirror' universe and explains how Beverly became to be the Captain's woman.
  • Starlight and Roses by Terry S. Bowers. The shuttle carrying Picard and Crusher crashes on a small planetoid.
  • The Manner of My Death by Miranda Greene. Doctor Tobey Russel from the episode 'Ethics' returns to wreak havoc on the Enterprise crew.
  • Getting Nowhere Fast by Janis Sherringham. Beverly must help Picard after he relapses in his recover from his captivity at the hands of the Cardassians.
  • On the Horizon by Terry S. Bowers. What was supposed to be a pleasant holodeck outing turns into a dangerous confrontation for Beverly and Picard.

Issue 3

Four Lights 3 was published in June 2000 and contains 173-pages. The front cover is by Janet D'Airo.
