Five Songs is a for-profit zine focused on the relationship between Gojo Satoru and Iori Utahime from Jujutsu Kaisen.

About

The project was announced on December 28, 2021 on Twitter[1]. Interest checks began on January 7 of the next year and ended on January 28, 2022[2]. Thanks to overwhelming responses, a NSFW add-on was announced for the project and was later named Nightcap[3]. The project reported a total of 182 responses on their social media post on interest check results[4]. Contributors could apply to the zine project as page artists, merch artists, and writers from February 1 to February 22, 2022[5].

The project's online storefront opened for preorders from July 1 to July 31, 2022 with the following pricing tiers[6]:

  • Nocturne ($15 USD) - NSFW Digital Zine
  • Opus ($15 USD) - Digital Zine
  • Overture ($20 USD) - Prints, Acrylic Charm, Sticker, Button, Stretch Goals
  • Harmony ($25 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Stretch Goals
  • Crescendo ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Prints, Acrylic Charm, Sticker, Button, Stretch Goals

Stretch goals for physical bundles included an enamel pin at 50 orders, a phone holder at 75 orders, physical printing of the NSFW zine at 100 orders, and upgrading a sticker to an acrylic charm at 125 orders[7]. A share campaign was launched on July 4, 2022 where physical orders would receive a photobooth-themed bookmark if the preorder post received a specified number of retweets and likes[8]. Once all original stretch goals were met, the project announced a die cut magnet to unlock at 150 orders[9]. Another stretch goal of prints of both zines' covers was added at 175 orders[10]. A giveaway was run from July 14 to July 28, 2022 for a full bundle[11]. The winner was Twitter user kunaxooo[12].

The first batch of orders were announced to be shipped on October 17, 2022[13]. By October 25, 2022 physical orders were announced to be shipped[14]. Digital zines were emailed by November 1, 2022[15].

As leadup to leftover sales, digital versions of both zines were back on sale on November 16, 2022[16]. Leftover sales for physical merchandise opened on November 25, 2022 with both new and old pricing tiers[17]:

  • Crescendo ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Prints, Acrylic Charm, Sticker, Button
  • Harmony ($25 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine
  • Fortepiano ($25 USD) - Physical NSFW Zine, NSFW Digital Zine
  • Adagio ($12 USD) - Prints, Bookmark
  • Cadenza ($3-10 USD) - Individual Merchandise

Leftover sales closed on December 17, 2022[18].
