Finding Home is a Natsume Yuujinchou fanfic by darkcyan. It is apocafic with a major action/adventure plot, and no romantic relationships. At 250k words it stands out in a fandom of most short one-shots, and is one of the longest and most popular works in the fandom.[1]
Summary
On a school trip, between one moment and the next, Tanuma's teacher and about half of his classmates disappear. Everyone must figure out how to deal with this changed world, and the new dangers it has brought with it. Meanwhile, Tanuma wants to believe that Natsume was not one of those who disappeared that day ... but if not, where is he?

Less popular on AO3, only 40th highest by kudos out of about 1960 works (or 44th out of 2140 works if you're logged in to ao3). Oh but it's top 8 by hit count (top 6 in this 2022 archive.org snapshot). Anyways, it's not the #1 fic everyone talks about (that's probably one of taizi's works, or The Human Mask) but it's pretty well-read.
