Fëanor, son of Finwë and Míriel Þerindë, was the pre-eminent genius among the Noldor and created the Silmarils, as well as the Fëanorian lamps, the Palantíri, and the Tengwar. He led the Rebellion of the Noldor, and with his sons, swore the Oath of Fëanor to recover the stolen Silmarils by any means necessary. Following the Kinslaying at Alqualondë, he was banished from Valinor and travelled to Beleriand, where he was killed in battle with Morgoth's Balrogs.

Fandom

Fëanor is a controversial figure in fandom, being on the one hand an acknowledged genius whose works are still relevant and being used thousands of years later in the Third Age, and on the other a Kinslayer who set in motion an Oath which would have tragic and awful results.
