Fate/Zero is a Japanese light novel written by Gen Urobuchi and illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi about the events of the Fourth Holy Grail War, ten years prior to the events of Fate/stay night. The main protagonist, Kiritsugu Emiya, is the foster father of the protagonist of Fate/stay night, Shirou Emiya. The light novel was adapted into an anime in 2011.
