Fandom Kombat (Russian: Фандомная Битва) is a Russian multifandom team challenge which has been held annually since 2011. The challenge encompasses a wide range of fanworks, including (but not limited to) fanfiction, fanart, fanvids, fandom meta, cosplay, and podfics.
In 2020, the posting of submitted works was moved from diary.ru to AO3. As of May 2023, over 42,000 fanworks have been posted on AO3, including some archived from the challenge's early years.
General rules
- All willing to participate must create a team (or join an existing one) in order to join the challenge. There's no lower or upper limit to the amount of people on an individual team, as well as the number of teams participating in the challenge.
- Teams put forward an official representative (Captain) responsible for submitting the lists of team members and submitted works to the mods, posting the works to the challenge page, representing the team in all official discussions, as well as handling any in-team conflicts.
- The challenge is broken down into 7 Levels (e.g. Low Rating, High Rating, Big Bang), which may or may not consist of a number of smaller Quests.
- Challenge entries are posted according to the schedule published prior to the start of the challenge. A team that fails to post the minimal required amount of works for any Level/Quest before the deadline is disqualified.
- Only works that have not been posted anywhere on the Internet prior to the challenge can be submitted.
- The individual authorship of all submitted works must remain anonymous until the final results are announced. If a team member reveals themself as the author of a specific work, said work no longer counts as a challenge entry from the team.
- The winner and the runner-ups of Fandom Kombat are determined by the readers' vote. Although, since there's no actual prize associated with it, winning the challenge hardly ever serves as the motivation to participate.
