Kirk and Spock are civilians living on Moonbase; Spock is an ambassador. A lot of the story is Kirk's flashbacks. He is feeling lost and alone; Spock is away. Flashback to their very lovely, intense first time, after Vger. Kirk had been professing love" but when offered it by Spock, not sure he feels physical after all. Eventually gets truly caught up in it. A credible progression of feelings. Good sex; graphic.

Kirk feels Spock in pon farr (and feels it himself) through the bond; rushes (in Marcus Labs' exploration ship - I like that) to Orphus 2 where Spock is. Pon farr images are quite interesting. Wild dragon mindless physical torn by fire. Kirk can't even find Spock in the link. Intense, raw. painful, the effects of pon farr on both of them.

Satisfying story.
