Eastern Weyr, also called Eastern A12, was a Dragonriders of Pern roleplay club set in an alternate 12th Pass in which the supercomputer AIVAS was never discovered and Thread was never wiped out. It shared a timeline with Igen Weyr, Palisades Weyr and Denbe Weyr.

About

Eastern Weyr is an Alternate 12th Pass Weyr. Our timeline is shared ONLY by Igen Weyr. That means we are set approximately 750 turns after the events of the Pern Series. In our timeline, AIVAS was not working at all and therefore Thread continues to fall on Pern. Also, although Landing is in Eastern's territory, we do not have Landing. It was never discovered in out alternate timeline nor will it ever be discovered in our timeline. This is to ensure our Pern and the Pern of Anne McCaffrey's books remain separate. Since we are on an Alternate Pern, we have a few other minor changes from the books. Gold and bronze dragons are something that is earned. While we do open these spots to anyone who wishes to apply, we reserve the right to require a six month trial period. These dragons may also be given to those members who have shown their willingness to help make Eastern a great Weyr.

In keeping with Anne McCaffrey's wishes regarding who may Impress which color dragon, see below.

Gold Dragons: Impressed ONLY by straight women

Bronze Dragons: Impressed ONLY by straight men

Brown Dragons: Impressed MAINLY by straight men, OCCASIONALLY by gay men and NEVER by women

Blue Dragons: Impressed MAINLY by gay men, OCCASIONALLY by heterosexual men and NEVER by women

Green Dragons: Impressed MAINLY by women and OCCASIONALLY by gay men

There are no exceptions to this whatsoever. End of story :-) We are not saying that no gay man can never Impress a Green, just that is not common place for this to happen.

Rules Set By the Weyrleaders

1. Due to the mature content of the writing that takes place in Eastern Weyr, the Weyrleadership, under the requests of its members, has had to place a membership age of 15 on up, rule. We do not want angry parents reporting to AOL something their child has received in their mail.

2. Hearing all dragons is a talent only heard about in ballads and old stories. This talent will not be used except by special permission. Submit your request for this talent and be prepared to work for it.

3. Firelizards, while common enough, are not something you are going stumble across while walking on the beach. *All* green flitters at Eastern are infertile. All clutches are handled by the Weyrleadership. If you want a flitter, all the lesser colors, such as brown, blue and green, will generally be ok'd right away. Bronzes and golds are given as rewards. If you have a gold, be warned that she will tolerate only one other flitter and not another gold. We have put a limit of 4 flitters per persona and only 2 if one of those is a gold.

4. Impression: Please be unique in your approach for Impressing. There are hundreds out there who have done the Inpression from the Stands story. It was good for Mirrim but we will not allow it. It has been used time and again and is frankly boring! If you insist on it, please contact the Weyrleadership with your request and we will discuss it. Usuaully an exception will be made only once per Terran year.

5. Timing: Timing is not permitted at Eastern Weyr for any reason. We will not allow it so please do not ask :) We will not permit accidental discovery of timing

6. Please do not create a sterotype or super persona. That means no hot tempered red heads, dumb blondes, brainy nerds or Queen Rider Lady Holder Master Healers running around Eastern Weyr. Walking on water is not permitted, all personas are flawed and really, they are more interesting with those flaws. Reading about a perfect person who never makes mistakes is probably as boring as writing about one! :)

7. Craftsmen and women are like full time workers and home owners here on Earth. They can Impress but if that happens, their craft becomes a hobby. A dragon will take up more than 75% of their time so you really can not be a CraftMaster and a dragonrider.

8. Pets Please do not bring a zoo full of pets to the weyr. Eastern is a working Weyr and most people do not have the time to devote to pets. Weyrlings and Candidates may *NOT* have any pets at all. Once they become full riders, this ban is lifted. Any transfers into Eastern may bring only 2 pets, only 1 of which may be a flitter.

9. **NOTE: Weyrleadership reserves the right to take, from Eastern, any bronzes or gold dragons from personas who do not make the said requirements, that are listed on down in this WeyrGuide.

Also Weyrleadership reserves the right to make any persona, from Eastern, into a WNPC if the persona maker disappears, or if email address becomes a "Returned Item" or a "Non AOL User" without any forewarned acknowledgment about any email changes (Personas will be made into WNPC immediately and desposed of accordingly). This rule is to prevent a clog of personas that might occur.

A persona that, whose Author from Eastern has "disappeared" or "quit" the Weyr, will be factored into an immediate WNPC status. The persona is property of, and dealt with accordingly by, Eastern Weyr.
