Drowning is a ficlet by dramadream10 based on Mary Renault's 1953 novel The Charioteer. It describes Ralph's experiences when his ship was sunk at Dunkirk, starting when he suddenly finds himself flung into the water.
The story was written at the time of maryrenaultfics's Unwritten Charioteer CBC in 2011, but was not actually written for one of the challenges. It elicited several comments, including the following:
