A popular style of journal-based fandom RPG (especially on LiveJournal) in which players can join in, leave, and create or abandon characters at any time (including multiples/clones of the same character) without a formal application process or activity requirements. Originally intended for use as sandboxes with which to test out playing certain characters or try new ideas, dressing rooms have grown widespread in popularity due to their ease of use and low barriers to entry. Numerous styles and types of dressing room games exist, including games for characters from a single series/fandom, multifandom or Pan-fandom games, and games for OCs.
