Definition
Disney Bounding (or Disneybounding) is a term coined by Leslie Kay on her blog DysneyBound and refers to wearing normal everyday clothes to dress up as Disney characters without making it look like a costume. Part of why Disneybounding became so popular is because fans wanted a way to dress up as their favorite characters but were not allowed to wear costumes inside the Disney parks. People have dressed up as all types of characters, and as the phenomenon grew, Disneybounding stopped being limited to Disney alone. Some of the examples in the official Disney Bounding Instagram account include Pokémon and Marvel characters. [1]
DisneyBound was inspired by a trip I was taking to Disney World with my best friend at the time. We were literally Disney bound. I created a blog to channel my excitement — it was just your standard Disney fan blog. But I started to create these outfits based off of Disney characters using items you could use in your own closet or local mall — and it very rapidly took off. [2]
