In the mid-2010s, Ikimaru was a BNF for the pairing, and as of 2025 still has multiple art pieces at the top of a Google Image search for "DirkJake fanart."[1]
Much in fandom has been said about the fact that in all of Homestuck proper, only one 'true' conversation is shown between Jake and Dirk. This is often utilized as a narrative representation of their communication issues, and how they seem to never be able to say exactly what they mean to each other.
