Despite everything, you still have me is a Genshin Impact story by Emily Rivers Fandom. It is a Neuvillette/Wriothesley emotional hurt/comfort one shot.

It is believed that Emily Rivers Fandom's ASL translation of her own work is the first work on Archive of Our Own under the American Sign Language language category to genuinely be in sign language. All other works under the ASL language category prior seemed to be miscategorisations or misuse.

The work was highlighted on Twitter and Tumblr as being the first sign language work on AO3 and received a positive response and prompted various discussions, including those around ableism in fandom.

Emily Rivers Fandom has also posted Sovereign's Destined, a second ASL work.

Reactions and Reviews

Oh my gosh so excited to start seeing ASL translations and interpretations on Ao3!!! Amazing work! I am so impressed by your storytelling skills and use of classifiers— I felt like I could really feel and see what was going on. Thank you for your hard work and providing this level of accessibility :)) PS: if you’re ever interested in a career in interpreting, you would be amazing for interpreting theater plays[1]

This is amazing! And yes this is the first ASL fanfiction on Ao3. All others I had seen are regular fanfics. Putting them in American Sign Language make no sense to me.

I know right, that is super frustrating, to see many users disrespecting the language tag and posting their tested work or shit post on it, I did go through the entire thing myself and found out there's no ASL fanfic and had a spur-of-thought of: why not?

to be honest I wouldn't thought of doing this at all if it wasn't for the fact that ao3 put in ASL as new language under language tag and when I saw that I was like oh? that's a thing now??

So ultimately I guess it's thanks to ao3 encouraging more diversity in language-wise that led to this work being posted. thanks for watching.[2]
