Reactions and Reviews
1989
Very well-done. Poor McCoy! Even though it sorta served him right: I liked Spock's coming out with the unexpected touches of humor. And I loved the line on page 17 "Pushing his regrets for what could have been ruthlessly aside as he took this one night..." That really said a lot about him. [1]
I was afraid I was in for another "aphrodisiac in the foreign food" ploy, but it was a nice twist that it was Kirk's own desires that were responsible. The excellence of the writing held my interest even when I anticipated an overly used plot. [2]
1990
Though secondary to the familiar theme, the insight into Kirk's ever-vigilant and responsible command persona was enjoyable...and something that's examined all too seldom. [3]
1991
A charming first time. Nice imagination on the alien description. I only wish our society would skip the long speeches at banquets and the eternal goodbyes. These were the only original parts of the story, but it was well done and very pleasant reading. [4]
