Excerpts

Why MFU? What is it about the show that fuelled your creativity? I fell in love with Illya Kuryakin at an early age. I was intrigued not just by his looks but by his character. My family dynamic was always so dramatic and hectic, so I enjoyed his logical and scientific nature, his control, and his intelligence as a nice change. The exotic Russian had me going on more levels than I can count even as a kid.

It took me a little longer to appreciate Napoleon Solo, but as an adult I discovered that it wasn't just Illya, but the partnership that kept me coming back to watch the show. I cared about their friendship, how they worked together as a team even though they were so different.

Do you feel as passionate about your creativity now as when you started? Why/why not? I feel more involved and passionate now than when I started making calendars and icons for MUNCLE in 2009. I've been so pleased at the supportive nature of the community. I've been in, and I'm still in, other fandoms, but I find that MUNCLE seems more active and welcoming than any of the others. What amazes me is that despite the fact that the show's been off the air for so long, it's still going strong as a fandom. Napoleon and Illya are inspiring, but that's only half the draw. The other half comes from the communal spirit I've found with other MUNCLE fans.

What is the piece you “dare not create”? I don't see myself ever creating an explicit piece of artwork. I enjoy explicit art sometimes, but it's not something I'd make myself.
