Daniel Ricciardo is an Australian and Italian racing driver currently competing in Formula One for RB Formula One Team (VCARB).
Fandom
The Red Bull Years
Daniel joined Red Bull in 2014 after driving for Toro Rosso for two years (2012-2013). Sebastian Vettel was Daniel's teammate for the year until it was announced Daniil Kyvat would end up becoming Daniel's teammate at the end of the 2014 season. Then in 2016 after the first four races of the year, Max Verstappen would end up becoming Daniel's teammate.
During Baku of 2018 Max and Daniel would get into a crash during the race on lap 39. Later on, Daniel would go on to say, "Thanks Baku!" referring to the crash.
Daniel would stay with the team until 2018.
Renault
During Daniel's time at Renault, the team treated him well. In terms of his driving he maintained a solid mid-field posistion during his two years with the team. In 2019, he would be 9th in the drivers championship, and in 2020, he was in fifth place in the championship standings.
McLaren
When Daniel had jointed McLaren he had initially signed a three year deal with the team. Daniel finished 8th and 11th during his two years with the team. The team wasn't happy with Daniel's performance so they terminated his contract and it cost the team $18 million dollars. There was a video released on his Instagram announcing him leaving the team.
Right around the same time, there was speculation about Daniel's trainer Michael Italiano. Michael had stopped working with Daniel after his exit from McLaren and because Yuki Tsunoda's trainer at the start of the 2023 season.
The Return to Red Bull
In 2022, after horribly parting ways with McLaren, Christian Horner had called up Daniel during Christmas of 2022 and offered him a place back with Red Bull as their third driver. Daniel would go on to do a tire test in the RB19 putting him on pace with Max Verstappen's time as seen in season six of Drive to Survive. By the end of the year, Daniel would be back driving in F1 for Alpha Tauri formerly Toro Rosso to prove that he could be in line for Sergio "Checo" Perez seats after his contract ends in 2024. Unfortunately during the Zandvoort GP, Daniel would end up breaking his hand causing him to be out for several races. Daniel would be back in the car by the end of the season luckily.
Controversies
Daniel's conflicting comments about women in motorsports. Him being supportive of women joining the sport. In 2023, he was on a Barstool Sports podcast, where the interviewer made disparaging comments about women in motorsports, Daniel said nothing and instead just laughed along with the interviewer. Many people got up in arms about this, especially the female fans who felt that Daniel should have spoken up and said something as he has seemed supportive about women joining the sport in the past.
