I don't think I can bear this particular B/C universe. And particularly not now I've seen the songtape. I must have watched that first one - "It Cuts Both Ways" - five times. It's beautiful. That, more than anything else, brought the truth and beauty of B/C home to me (not that I needed any convincing).

I'll save answering your letter itself till I get back, mainly because I'm simply longing to talk about Bodie, Cowley, and Doyle, having gorged myself on their stories and videos all week. Last

night I finished reading "As Games Are Played" for the second time, after watching Tolbran's songtape over and again, and have been wandering about in that other universe ever since. I wish I could convey to you how completely I've been seduced by these alternate worlds; they've hovered over the garden, plashed in the bath and twined inexorably through the daily round, the common task. This is not unassisted by the fact that the lovely song "It Cuts Both Ways" has constantly been on my lips. I wrote down the words as I watched the tape, and learned them, and have been driving poor [C] mad by singing it relentlessly about the house. Ian tells me it's by Gloria Estefan, by the way.
