The Crystal Singer trilogy is a series of science fiction novels by Anne McCaffrey: Crystal Singer (1982), Killashandra (1986), and Crystal Line (1992). The main character, Killashandra Ree, is a failed opera singer who becomes a "crystal singer" on the planet Ballybran. Ballybran has a unique mineral resource used in various essential technologies and is also home to a pathogen that infects everyone who lives there; the ones who survive can acquire some superhuman abilities.
