Convergence (also ConVergence) is the Australian National Science Fiction Convention that was held in Melbourne, Australia in 2002 and 2007, as the result of a bid campaign by a non-affiliated group of fans. It hosted a number of events, including the annual National Science Fiction Convention Business Meeting.

Convergence 2002

The convention was held Jun 7-10, 2002 at the Cato Conference Centre in Melbourne. The chairperson was Rose Mitchell (also Masked Ball organiser), with the following staff: Sharon Nebel (treasurer); Beverley Hope (membership and general enquiries); Paula McGrath (facilities liaison and hotel reservations); Danik Banchilon (guest liaison and publications); Sue Ann Barber (programme); Emilly McLeay (dealers and volunteers); Marc Ortlieb (awards); Jack Herman (business meeting); and Alison Barton (publicity and art show).

The Guests of Honour were Joe and Gay Haldeman, Lucy Sussex and Sean Williams. The fan GOH was Race Mathews and the Toastmaster was American SF author Jack Dann.

Convergence 2

The second Convergence was held 8-11 June 2007 at the Rydges Melbourne Hotel, in Melbourne. Guests: Isobelle Carmody, Fred Gallagher and Dave Freer; the Fan GoH: Cath Ortlieb.
