Convention of the Great Klingon Empire was a 1981 Star Trek convention in Australia.

Its location is unclear, but the program book refers to a "hall" and a "kitchen," so a community hall or church.

Food was for lunch, breaks, and tea were to be purchased only from the kitchen, fans were asked to bring a "basket supper" of their own for dinner, non-alcoholic drinks were provided.

Programming

There was:

  • a "short film presenting the discoveries of the Special Klingon Advance Reconnaissance Team" (called "Where No Klingon Has Gone Before")
  • showing of various Star Trek episodes
  • "a trilogy of exciting plays presented by The Starfleet Players, depicting never-seen-before scenes of Klingon life and customs"
  • a showing of Star Wars ("condensed versions of parts I and II")
  • "A Factual Look at Klingons" ("Nikki White will counteract the Federation's propaganda against the Klingon Empire")
  • a Space Disco and a Fancy Dress Party
  • A special segment with Tom Callaghan (Radio 5 EBI's science fiction reviewer)
  • "Klingon Vengeance" ("an item which will entertain and amuse all attendees")
  • "The Prime Directive from a Klingon Point of View" ("A detailed expose of the many transgressions by the Federation of their special law of the "The Prime Directive," presented at the request of our Emperor.")

  • a showing of Star Trek: The Motion Picture ("one hour version")
