Consequence is a Star Trek: TOS story by Suzan Lovett.
It was published in Vault of Tomorrow #2 and later in Antinomy.
Summary
From the publisher: "An 'Amok Time' AU."
Excerpt
"His fingers wrapped around Spock's throat. He rolled over the Vulcan. He knew part of his friend was fighting along with him. No, all of Spock was fighting along with him, against a blind, consuming, relentless inferno. The Ahn Woon became an iron band. Spock was losing the fight, and the Human couldn't hope to win without him. Kirk's fingers tightened of their own accord."
Reactions and Reviews
Again, I cannot say much about the content of “Consequence” without spoiling it for the reader. Let me underscore the fact there is more unquestionable love expressed in less than two pages than you will find in many much longer accounts of “Amok Time”. Many levels of caring and attraction exist among sentient beings, but none to rival what exists between Kirk and Spock. We see it here, standing in stark relief against the burning sands of Vulcan. We see its incredible strength, the power it holds over both Kirk and Spock, and we see the terrible lengths to which such a perfect love will go. This is a very powerful few paragraphs. [1]
"Amok Time" vignette with a nice twist. Spock breaks his own neck to keep from killing Kirk - and Kirk claims T'Pring with malice in his heart. [2]
