ConYuu is the ship between Conrad and Yuuri from Kyou Kara Maou. Conrad is the one who carried Yuuri's soul into the human world to be reincarnated, and Yuuri respects and admires him greatly. Yuuri has difficulty pronouncing his real name, Conrart, and instead calls him Conrad, which is the name most fans use.

A major plot point in both the novels and the anime is Conrad's apparent death and reappearance working for the enemies of Yuuri's kingdom. In the anime, Conrad eventually returns to his family and friends, but in the novels, his relationship with Yuuri remains much more complicated.

Fandom

The official manga adapation is seen by fans as leaning towards Conrad/Yuuri, but the original novels and the anime both tease a variety of ships including ConYuu. ConYuu is proportionately much more popular among Japanese fans, possibly because the age gap is more likely to squick Western fans.

As of June 2024, there are about 1850 works on Pixiv tagged ConYu, and 9 tagged YuCon. Because of the age (and size) difference, Yuuri is much less likely to be portrayed as the seme than in Yuuram/WolfYuu[note 1].

Notes

  1. ^ A previous revision of this page stated that there were only around 500 results on Pixiv for ConYuu in April 2021, citing actor Gong Yoo, whose name is written the same way as the ship, for an 'increase' in the number of works to 1700 the following year. This was factually incorrect, however, as only 300 works in the tag as of July 2024 are new since April 2021, meaning there were around 1550 works at the time. Actor Gong Yoo had minimal impact and only accounts for about 50 of the results in the tag as of July 2024. The initially low numbers were likely the result of a common error in searching pixiv (which excludes written works from the results).
