From the Editorial
Hurt/Comfort is a genre of fan fiction that is much loved by many fans, including us. Collectively, we have been hurt/comfort fans for over 50 years (yikes!), and during that time we have published many other zines, both singly and together.
As you may imagine, one of the challenges of zine publishing is to come up with an appropriate title. You want something catchy and appropriate to the contents or the particular fandom, maybe something clever, but definitely not a title used before. Think how confusing that would be! So, when it came time to name this zine, we were in a serious quandary (does anybody still use that word?). We had wonderful stories and poems (thanks again, Amanda!) and a gorgeous cover (Loraine, you’re amazing!), but we didn’t have a clue what to call the book. We hemmed... we hawed... and finally, in total desperation, we consulted the Thesaurus. Duh! Why didn’t we ever think of that before? Since the stories were all hurt/comfort, we simply looked up those words, and TA DA! You hold in your hand the definitive Sentinel hurt/comfort zine, containing a wonderful collection of hurt/comfort stories, a few hurt/comfort poems, and, thanks to the Oxford Pocket Thesaurus, a hurt/comfort title!
We hope you enjoy reading this zine as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
