Reactions and Reviews

1991

I liked this story spin off from Journey to Babel. T'Pau was very much the hard hearted matriarch — tradition bound to a point of cruelty regarding Sarek, Amanda and their two twin sons, and yet her character was very interesting. I liked the Set character, too, who wasn't "slow" after all. Spock's disease was a good inference from the episode — the "side effect" was frighteningly realistic. At the same time, however, Kirk seemed too interested in having a "quickie" when Spock was still ill with a tube in his arm, and his mother walking in on them was a bit too much. Also Spock's upset after he was cured seemed a bit hurried, but I liked the conflict and the resolution that followed between them. [1]
