At first look, this story might seem quite the shocker—David Marcus comes on to his own father! But that's not the tone of this very gentle story. It's David's eighteenth birthday and he decides he wants to sleep with a man. Even though quite good-looking, he's rather lonely. He goes to a well-known gay bar and guess who comes in. David is stricken with lust and attraction. So he ends up asking this gorgeous older man to go to bed with him. The gorgeous man turns him down, nicely. I loved the "Who was that masked man?" ending.

A few brush strokes with the pen shows me a picture of an insecure, eager young man. What would’ve happened, if Kirk had granted David’s wish and taken his virginity. A Greek tragedy in the making, neither knowing who the other really is.

Interesting idea as David Marcus propositions James T. Kirk, but, thankfully he is turned down. This story left me cold, but I think it was supposed to. I rather thought it might be commentary on having fathers involved in their kids lives. I did wonder if David and Kirk recognized each other in STII.
