Fandom

The Cold Case fandom thrives primarily on LiveJournal and FanFiction.net, and a significant portion of its creations have yet to transition from these platforms. The fanfiction within this community frequently encompasses het, femslash, or gen genres.

Remarkably, despite being rooted in a police procedural crime drama, the Cold Case fandom has distinguished itself by not limiting its fan content solely to the main characters of the show. Instead, it is common for fans to weave narratives around minor one-off characters from various episodes. Notably, two of the most prominent pairings in this realm are Daniela/Chris from Season 2, Episode 3, and Rose Collins/Billie Doucette from Season 2, Episode 22. These pairings of supporting characters often incorporate elements of queer themes, with the first one featuring a trans character and the other portraying a lesbian relationship.

Common tropes found in traditional fanworks featuring the detectives of the squadron include Fix-its, Case Fics, and Post Canon stories.
