Even considering that cold has a debilitating effect on any human being, failed to make this story believable. One day in a cold cell and Kirk loses his spirit!!! Giving up!! Because that’s what this is. Not even as a first year cadet would he have reacted that way, let alone Kirk after his years in space. So he is alone, so he is cold, so he is hungry, so what? He has been given water and it doesn’t hurt one bit to fast for one day or even a couple of days. And a command training worth its name would have put their cadets through endurance tests—to know what kind of mettle they’re made of. To learn about their strengths and weaknesses and to teach their cadets, their future officers, that as well. I’m sorry, I have to say I rejected it so much that I didn’t even bother to read on. I just skipped the rest.[1]
