Code Lyoko Foorumi was the largest Finnish Code Lyoko discussion board, founded in 2007. It was deleted in 2013 because the host closed its services.
Origins and description
Code Lyoko Foorumi was founded by SuomiLyoko and a few of her friends. It was, alongside with SuomiLyoko's Code Lyoko fansite on freewebs.com, the oldest Code Lyoko site in Finnish. This is because it was founded in 2007 before the series began airing in Finland later the same year. SuomiLyoko and her friends were Finnish kids living in Belgium, having seen the cartoon on Belgian TV. The forum was originally intended for these friends, but after the series started airing in Finland, more people kept pouring in.
The forum had sections for Code Lyoko discussion, fanart and fanfiction, forum games, graphic design, and off-topic conversation. There was also a topic of sharing OCs. The most active boards were fanworks and off-topic conversation. The forum games board was hidden from view after the admin SuomiLyoko felt that it was taking too much focus from the rest of the forum, although this did drop the user activity a bit.
The forum was deleted abruptly with no warning in 2013, when the foorumi.info host was shut down, with nobody having been able to backup anything. After this event, SuomiLyoko felt that there was no point in starting a new forum as the activity of the old one had already dropped significantly since the airing of Code Lyoko had ended in Finland years ago already.[1] A small amount of the material shared can be found through the Wayback Machine, as well as the (now mostly inactive) Deviantart accounts of the most active users.
The forum was the largest site for Finnish Code Lyoko fans to gather to. Some of the members were among the best known people in the fandom at the time, and a few have worked on Finnish Code Lyoko projects online years after the site's closure.[2]
