About
Claudia Rebaza began watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel: The Series in 1999. It wasn't until the summer of 2002 that she began going online for news about the show's future. In 2003 she began regularly visiting Whedonesque[note 1] for news and searching out fanfic through online archives and award sites. In January 2004 she began a qualitative research project for a course that involved online communities. Claudia is interested in the segmentation of the Whedonverse fan community across different technological platforms and virtual spaces.[1]
In December 2009 the dissertation The modern coterie: Fan fiction writers as a community of practice,.[2] earned her a Ph.D. in LIS (Library & Information Science) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
