Circlecest is a term used for any (pseudo-)incest pairing between the main characters from Tamora Pierce's Emelan novels, who are foster siblings. The term is particularly used for the poly ship between all four siblings.
History
The term first appears on Archive of Our Own in early June 2011, in a series of fics written for an event on Fief Goldenlake.[1] The first Goldenlake post by Team Circlecest during a Smackdown event may be from April 4, 2011.[2] The first mention on LiveJournal is also in relation to this event, appearing in March 2011.[3]
