Some Excerpts
Oh, here's a unique answer: Mulder and Scully. These two complex characters. Also, has there ever been a show with more blanks to fill in? <g> God love him, the Kahuna leaves a lot of room.
It's a dynamic we've seen so rarely in all of fiction - and definitely in the history of television. To call it a romance simplifies it. It's complicated - they are brother and sister, boyfriend and girlfriend, best friends, partners. DD said once that Scully is Mulder's "human credential" and I love that. And yet, Mulder opens up Scully's humanity and vulnerability too. Or, as the Kahuna says.."Scully loves Mulder and Mulder loves Scully." So, perhaps it is that simple.
12 Rites of Passage/12 Degrees of Separation. Wow, that's original - but it's the truth. I used to lurk around the AOL boards and people kept talking about these two stories - naive me thought they were published books! Imagine my surprise to find they were on a webpage for free! I sat up all night reading them both...then all the works by that author...and my life hasn't been the same since.
Mom knows I write "something" to do with the X-Files, but she doesn't understand the whole fanfic thing, and I think she prefers it that way. She's just happy to hear I'm writing again. I tried to tell a friend about fanfic, even sent him my first story - and he came back with all kinds of questions that put me on the defensive and I decided not to try that experiment again. I have plenty of friends here to share my fanfic with, I don't need to tell those that don't "get" it, about it. Who needs the stress?
