Doyle is at the CI5 party while Bodie is away on a job, and Ray is missing him. Suddenly he spots Bodie in the crowd, and wonders why he didn't let Ray know he was there. Bodie is enjoying watching Ray, and eventually they both realise they are flirting with each other. Ray is called away to dress up as Santa, and claim kisses under the mistletoe, and has to kiss Bodie. When he goes to change he has Bodie brought to him on a pretext and (once the storeroom door is locked and the lights are out) proceeds to assault Bodie who readily responds.

I'm not sure why this was titled 'Pantomime', unless it was because B & D are playing the roles of just good mates when in fact they are suddenly considering being lovers. I'm also not sure why some of the others at the party come to the storeroom door and then go down to Reception for the key. Surely, if they had suspected B & D were inside, they would have knocked and shouted — and anyway, that is never followed up.

I liked the ending when, back home, they realise why Murphy (who'd driven them home) made his cryptic comments: the glitter from Doyle's hair is plastered all over Bodie.
