Chris Cwej is a companion to the Seventh Doctor in the Doctor Who Expanded Universe, first appearing in the Virgin New Adventures story Original Sin. He has since appeared in several other EU stories including further VNAs, Big Finish Short Trips books, and his own series by Arcbeatle Press titled Cwej: The Series.
The pronunciation of his Polish surname, and the confusion of many in doing so correctly, is both addressed in the canon itself, and is somewhat of a meme out of universe (its proper English phonetic is 'Shvey' rather than 'Kwedge', however he often uses the latter in canon to avoid confusing people).
