Tardis Wiki, formerly known as the Tardis Data Core,[2] is the fan wiki for Doctor Who and its related fandoms. Its community split into two in 2024, with some operating on a independent wiki (forked onto a self-hosted domain from the original) and others on FANDOM wiki.

During its time as the Tardis Data Core, the wiki had an infamous reputation in the fandom for its somewhat bizarre policies surrounding "validity" (an internal system comparable to canonicity but with different standards), and what should and shouldn't be covered by the wiki.[3][4] The reception to the Tardis Data Core was therefore quite mixed, with some fans applauding the effort to document obscure parts of the fandom that probably wouldn't be known about as much otherwise, and others disliking its bad or confusing policies. Many fans are both.

TARDIS wiki is a hellscape but where else will I find exhaustive info about Dr who stories[5]

Some of the more notable events or decisions regarding the wiki include the comedic Tardis Wiki Penis Saga, the problematic discourse around having an LGBT characters category, and the bizarre inclusion of a full list of floors shown on the page for the colony ship from World Enough and Time.

The categories for fictional LGBT+ characters have since been reinstated,[6][7] and the pages for the colony ship floors have been deleted.[8] The wiki has had a shift in editors and policies since circa 2019, with many of the common issues being fixed.
